This RYA First Aid Course from £59 in Southampton Hampshire is overseen by Steve Gravells of Tec Rec Coaching, Steve has taught Mountain First Aid and First Aid at Sea courses for over 30 years and worked as a NHS First Responder based in the New Forest. The course will be highly interactive with practicals and theory elements taught so that you remember them!
All Tutors have first hand experience of coming across accidents and incidents whilst personally skippering Yachts, or Mountain climbing, Powerboating, Kayaking rivers/sea, Dinghy Sailing, and Windsurfing is brought to the course.

First Aid Training equipment
We will be using some of the latest equipment availabe for the RYA First Aid course from £59 in Southampton Hampshire.
Although the RYA First Aid Course is only one day, we will make it as interesting and practical as posssible, for Resuscitation practice you will be working with the latest Adult, Child, and Baby manikins.
We also have the latest available manikins for instructing dealing with a Choking casualty.
We bring you up to speed with how the latest Automated External Defribrillators work.
Our RYA First Aid course will give you the opportunity to have hands on with a Training Defibrillator - you will be able to position the pads and apply the shocking mechanism yourself.

Course Information
The RYA First Aid one day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, from a being on the water/land perspective. The course is aimed at anyone who is ashore or afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries on cross channel passages, or heading into the hills!
Course content
Perform CPR. Adult - Child - Baby
Practice with a Training Defibrillator
Actions for drowning
The recovery position.
Control bleeding - Bandaging, Tourniquets and Haemostatic dressings.
Shock; recognise and treat it
Cold shock and hypothermia
Reduced consciousness
General treatment for:- breathing difficulties, chest pain, seasickness, diabetic
emergency, anaphylaxis, hyperthermia, fractures, seizures, burns, and heart conditions
Equipping a suitable First Aid Kit
How to get medical advice or assistance by VHF/SRC radio
How to prepare for the evacuation of a casualty by helicopter

It fulfills the requirements for:-
Water sports Instructors, Yacht Skippers ( RYA, BCU )
First aid training for vessels working up to area Category 2 under the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Codes of Practice for Small Vessels Operated Commercially;
First aid training needed by offshore racers subject to World Sailing's Offshore Special Regulation OSR 6.05.2;
- Professional skippers of small craft ( Commercial Endorsement ) working within 60 miles of a safe haven, including Boatmasters.
