RYA Powerboat Level 2 Coastal Course from £210 per person in Southampton.
All RYA Powerboat Level 2 courses are taught on a 3:1 basis that means 3 customers and one Instructor.
All prices cover the following:- Boats, Fuel, Instructor, Life Jackets, RYA Start Powerboating Book, Certification and free use of our Musto Gore-Tex Offshore Waterproofs etc.
At the bottom of this page is a Book and Pay facility, when you use it you will receive a receipt and course booking confirmation, all by email - 24/7

Level 2 course
This is one of the most popular Powerboat courses and is based on the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Coastal course syllabus at £210 in Southampton, Hampshire.
For us to make this a viable course to run at £210.00 per person we will require a minimum of two bookings per course. If you choose the £249.00 option we will run this course if you are the only booking.
By the end of the Tec Rec Coaching two day RYA Powerboat Level 2 course in Southampton you should be capable of handling small powerboats safely and in a seamanlike way.
The course is 100% training with any assessment built in, which gives plenty of time for practising manoeuvres and correcting faults.
This course subsumes within it the 1 day RYA Powerboat Level 1 course - so a direct entry onto the Level 2 course, without attending the RYA Powerboat Level 1 course, is acceptable.

Course Programme
You will learn about pre - launch briefing and checks, how to launch and recover from a road trailer, planing skills and manoeuvres, seamanship skills - coming along side a pontoon, man-overboard recovery, anchoring, Rules of the Road, basics of GPS and more.
Shore-based sessions will include instruction in practical use of charts, fixed and hand held compasses, tide / weather interpretation.
The Southampton tidal waters are ideal for developing RYA Powerboat Level 2 skills and with a variety of moorings and marinas nearby there are plenty of opportunities to work on close quarter boat handling skills.
On the second day of each RYA Powerboat Level 2 Coastal course there will be a Navigation Trip from our base on the River Itchen to a Marina on the River Hamble where you can go ashore for lunch, the Passage Plan being put together by yourself.

Hiring or taking a Powerboat abroad?
The P/Boat L2 Certificate is what you
need for the ICC (International
Certificate of Competence)
For driving Powerboats in certain Countries abroad the Powerboat Level 2 certificate is used as proof of competence when applying for the International Certificate of Competence. ( ICC - conditions apply ) On completion of the P/Boat L2 course we explain how to complete the ICC form which is available from the RYA website, attach a passport photo and forward to the Royal Yachting Association who will return the completed ICC. (The RYA currently charge a fee for the issue of an ICC. If you are an RYA Member it is free. Minimum age is 16.
The RYA National Powerboat Level 2 Certificate is also a pre-requisite for the RYA Dinghy Instructor and RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor qualifications.

Realistic Man Over Board Training
Introducing 'Fred Float' our 'Man Over Board' Manikin.
Designed specifically for 'Man Over Board' Training.
This Water Rescue Manikin evolved from a collaborative development with the manufacturers and recognised rescue professionals including the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and the British Navy.
Fred is unique in realistically simulating an unconscious casualty whilst in the water, floating at an angle of 45 degrees with just the head and shoulders above the water, he provides a challenging weight to haul out and position appropriately in the Power Boat.
